  Headaches

  Dr Rapiti assists in the treatment of opoid addiction and offers treatment to patients suffering from addiction to suboxone and methadone.

  Drug Support Group

  DR Rapiti runs a drug support group for substance users, their family and the public every Saturday St Bosco’s Catholic Church, Westridge, from 3 pm to 5 pm. Attendance is free. Address 42 Amandel Rd., opposite Steven Regan Sports field.

  Youth Support

  He has been working with awaiting- trial youth for the past five years. Over 90% of the clients in the youth centre are in the centre for drug related crimes, which range from robbery to gang murders.

  Diabetes

  Patients, with the assistance of their healthcare provider, should keep their blood sugar within the correct range to prevent them from getting into comas and to ensure that they do not end up with the complications like kidney failure, failing vision, erectile dysfunctions or amputations of the limbs.

  Obesity & Its Statistics

  Dr Rapiti attributes the growing number of diabetes in South Africa and the rest of the world to spiralling obesity.

  Eating Plan

  Dr Rapiti has a special interest in the treatment of obesity. A healthy eating plan is available for download here. In most patients, a safe weight loss of up 1 to 2 kgs per week may be achieved by following a healthy eating plan such as this one.

  Asthma

  Asthma can be diagnosed in children as young as 6 months and or even older adults who may simply never have realised that they had asthma. Patients should be educated on how to use their pumps so that they can achieve optimal lung function.

  Headaches

  Headaches are probably one of the most common problems that patients present to their GP’s. Some of the many underlying causes for headaches are depression, stress and anxiety.

  Migraine Over Diagnosed

  Many patients suffer from tension headaches but these headaches are commonly misdiagnosed as migraine and end up with the wrong treatment.

  Women’s Health

  Dr Rapiti has a special interest in mood disorders affecting women. Many women suffer tremendously from premenstrual tension and from the effects of menopause for much of their lives.

  Hypertension

  Dr Rapiti has a special interest in the treatment of complicated hypertension. Hypertension is a silent killer, as it rarely has any symptoms. Patients could have quite high blood pressures and have absolutely no symptoms at all.

  Minor Surgery

  Procedures: Toe-nail removals, wedge resections, adult circumcision, removal of lumps and skin tags. All these procedures are in his rooms, by appointment.

  Dispensing of Medicines

  All clinical records are kept electronically for easy access and to maintain patient confidentiality. All scripts are done electronically for proper record keeping and to avoid written errors.

  Mental Health in South Africa

  Mental disorders are the third highest burden of disease, after HIV and other infectious disorders. 75 percent of people with mental illnesses do not receive any care. One in five people suffer from some form of mental disorder. It is estimated that by 2020, depression will be the second most disabling condition in the world.

  Family Health

  Dr Rapiti counsels patients using the principals of behaviour modification therapy and motivational counselling. He offers counselling for couples with marital or relationship problems, bereavement counselling, counselling of children who are battling with their parent’s divorce and counselling for patients suffering from work related stress and anxiety.

  Sexual Counselling

  Dr Rapiti offers sexual counselling for individuals with erectile dysfunction and libido issues. He counsels individuals as well as couples.

  Executive Counselling

  Quite early in his practice, DR Rapiti recognised the need for a specialised form counselling for today’s highly stressed and pressured executives. It is taboo for these high pressured individuals to sit in the waiting rooms of psychiatrists and psychologists, fearing that they might be recognised by their colleagues or clients. Many of them do not seek professional help, so their work and family life suffers.
